A 49-year-old Elgin man was arrested Tuesday afternoon in Naperville with more than $300,000 worth of heroin.
Edwardo Lara Cardenas, of Elgin, was in a vehicle stopped during a narcotics investigation near Center and School streets. An Amtrak K-9 alerted police to the vehicle where officers found more than three pounds of heroin.
Cardenas was charged with one felony count of unlawful possession with intent to deliver and one felony count of controlled substance trafficking according to police.
“I am proud of the collaboration between the agencies. It’s always nice when different agencies come together to solve a problem like this. It’s obviously a step in the right direction to get this much heroin off the street,” said Commander Jason Arres, of the Naperville Police Department.
