Naper Settlement would not be the out-door museum that it is or offer the education that it does without those who help to sustain, develop, and nurture it throughout the years.
Over the weekend, the Naperville Heritage Society – the administration behind the settlement – had its annual “Distinguished Heritage Hall of Honor” ceremony. The group honored six organizations and individuals who’ve shown unparalleled volunteerism and support for the preservation of Naperville’s history.
This year’s honorees were: Nancy Brown Stoneberg and Thomas Brown; Bob Jansen; Dave Kelsch; North Central College; Don and Pat Shanower; and Sullivan’s Steakhouse.
They all received a framed certificate and their names are inscribed on a plaque inside the Pre-emption House, which serves as the settlement’s visitor center. The Naperville heritage society’s board of directors started the Heritage Hall of Honor in 2004 as part of its 35th anniversary.
