The flu is on the rise in Naperville and there’s no telling how bad it will get.
Even though the vaccine might be slightly mismatched from the offshoot viruses that have formed from the original strain, Edward Hospital says that a flu shot will still offer some protection and encourages everyone to get the vaccine.
“Well particularly, what the CDC is saying is that the strain this year is predominantly the H3N2 strain, that poses a particular risk to the very young and the very old. Additionally, anyone that has any chronic health condition is at increased risk for influenza,” said Mary Anderson, Infection Control Manager at Edward Hospital.
The flu shot and the mist nasal spray are both options to protect yourself this season.
Other tips to stay healthy are to practice good hand hygiene and to keep clear of others who are sick when possible.
