For the 18th year in a row, the Midwest SOARRING Foundation brought Native American tradition to Naperville.
But this year, with a twist.
Chaske Spencer, actor from the “Twilight” movie franchise, was on-hand at the Harvest Pow Wow at Naper Settlement.
The two-day event spotlights Native American dancing, singing, clothing and goods.
The 37-year-old actor of Native American descent met with fans to discuss Twilight, as well as his youth growing up on a reservation.
“It’s just part of my tradition of who I am,” said Spencer, who was also in town to promote United Global Shift, a nonprofit organization that aims to sustain the environment, health and education in communities. “I enjoy going to pow wow’s. I love the regalia; I love the artwork; [and] the people.”
This year’s Harvest Pow Wow had the largest number of vendors yet, as well as a special animal exhibit where visitors could interact with Siberian Huskies and a Bald Eagle.
