Harmony Park Design Unveiled

Harmony Park will soon join Moser Tower in bringing music to Rotary Hill.

Naperville Park District staff recently unveiled a rough design of the park at its latest board meeting.

“There’s going to be four instruments that will be installed there,” said Director of the Parks Kevin Finnegan. “Two are chimes-type and two are xylophone-type.”

And while the instruments are the main draw of the park, the music they will make was the board’s biggest concern.

However, the park district’s tests concluded the nearest residence is several hundred feet away and on the other side of Rotary Hill, so the noise will not reach any homes.

The music will reach the hill, but Finnegan said they looked at other parks with instruments and the public has had only good things to say about them.

“We pretty much consider this to be an element that’s going to be used by a vast variety of people,” said Finnegan. “And it’s been well-received wherever they are in other locations, so we’re looking forward to it.”

The park will fit into a wedge of space surrounded by Rotary Hill, the Quarry Lake, and Aurora Avenue.

Finnegan said if everything goes to plan, construction on the park could begin as early as this summer.
