An Oscar-winning actress turned author recently made a few stops in Naperville.
Octavia Spencer visited Anderson’s Bookshop to promote her new middle reader book Randi Rhodes: Ninja Detective- The Case of the Time Capsule Bandit.
The author signed books and answered fan questions.
“I’d say the whole process has been about ten years,” said Spencer. “So I started drafting it about eight years ago. So it’s not new to me. It’s an introduction of my writing to other people.”
The following day Spencer visited Nancy Young Elementary School.
Three student ambassadors greeted the actress and showed her around the school.
She then spoke to students and answered questions, like what it was like to write a book, what her favorite sport is, and what she would want to be if she didn’t act or write, which of course be a detective.
Spencer said she has already completed the second book of the series.
