A local school has yet another GRAMMY Award to add to their trophy case.
Neuqua Valley High School was recently named the 2013 National GRAMMY Signature School.
The GRAMMY Signature Schools program recognizes high schools that make an outstanding commitment to music education.
This year they selected ten signature schools from across the country, with Neuqua Valley being the best in the nation.
Since opening in 1997, Neuqua has been named a GRAMMY Signature nine times and been “the best in the nation” twice. Something music department chair Charles Staley says represents the entire school district.
“When you give the students a quality experience, and you really help hone their skills at a young age, you can reap the rewards,” he said. “Our staff at the lower levels has really earned a spot in the honor that we are receiving from the GRAMMY foundation.”
Neuqua will receive the grand prize of $10,000.
