U.S. Representative Judy Biggert hosted a fair to support area seniors with help from organizations like the FBI and the State Treasurer’s Office.
Seniors were able to get answers to some of their toughest questions about identity theft, Medicare and even nutrition at the Levy Center in Bolingbrook.
Suzanne Wakerly had been looking forward to this event for months because she knew the fair would have all of the information she needed in one place.
“It’s a lot easier than having to go ferret it [information] out on the computer bit by bit,” said Wakerly, “I figure we’ve all paid into the system so it’s nice to know what’s there.”
Today’s seniors worry about the future of Medicare and other services they rely on.
“One woman said, ‘I’ve got so many questions and I get on the phone and wait and wait, and I’m exasperated by the time someone comes on the phone, but here I can talk to a person’” Biggert said.
Biggert believes fairs like this help seniors get the resources they need.
