A local university’s plan for expansion is heating up.
While Benedictine University won’t be leaving their Lisle location, they could be building a new campus in Mesa, Arizona. After months of discussion, the Mesa City Council approved the additional campus.
Mesa officials plan to bring multiple universities to their area and approached the university last March to learn more about what the school could bring to their community.
University officials say this opportunity allows them to educate more students.
Benedictine must now get approval from the Arizona State Board for Private Postsecondary Education. If approved, campus construction can break ground.
Benedictine already has a campus in Springfield, as well as satellite sites in Bellwood, Rockford, and Peoria. The university also offers programs in Vietnam and Asia.
