The Fry Family YMCA unveiled their new facility addition during a recent open house.
“With the Y, I’ve had a lot of great memories,” said Justin Parker a member at the Fry Family YMCA.
New features to the building include a larger gallery to watch swimming activities and an early childhood development center for preschool and kindergarten after school programs.
The learning center will be licensed for the 2013-2014 school year and hopes to include swimming lessons and the use of the YMCA’s gym.
“It’s 5,300 square feet of great space,” said Dick Malone, President and CEO of the YMCA of Greater Chicago. “For some of our youngest members in preschool, but also for our families that want to come to the [YMCA] and be active to create a community for this great city.”
The original building opened in 1995 and includes another addition, which was completed in 2000.
In honor of the facility’s new look, the Fry Family YMCA is offering a $0 joiner fee to anyone who becomes a member now until March 4th.
