The sun was shining in the sky and smiles were shining on children’s faces at the Naperville park district’s fifth annual kite festival. Kids of all ages flew and crashed kites.
“I love getting them untangled,” said Caden Hedges, a Naperville resident.
Parents helped their kids try to lift kites off the ground and into the air and gave them some flying advice after liftoff.
“I really like the kite because I can do tricks,” said Hadley Hedges, a Naperville resident. “My mom taught me how to do it because she learned when she was a little girl
Hundreds of people attended the event, but not everyone was from Naperville. Park District officials invited professional kite fliers from around the country to the event.
“They’re going to be bringing kites that look like giant octopuses,” said Fred Gusel, Superintendent of Recreation for the Naperville Park District. “You can’t buy those at your average kite store.”
