After several days of rain and flooded streets, the downtown area is back to its usual weekend bustle. All bridges are back open to traffic. Some stores are still keeping sandbags out as a precaution.
Many folks stopped to check out the fast-flowing and still-high river. Some even taking pictures. The stairwells and concrete paths right up along the DuPage River are still submerged and blocked off with caution tape.
But as you can see from these images comparing yesterday to today, the water level appears to have dropped a bit.
Dick Tracy is checking his watch, still waiting patiently for the water to recede completely.
Down the street, Centennial Beach remains under water, though crews are sucking up water from the area as best as they can. The Naperville Park District expects to recover the beach and have it ready to open by Memorial Day.
