Cantigny’s new exhibit “Five Years in the Jungle” is a partial recreation of a 1967 museum set up in Locnihn, Vietnam, which was created to supplement the training and education of new soldiers, as they arrived in an unfamiliar land with an enemy yet to be seen.
You have maps about the whole country and you have a museum there about where first division soldiers went and experience some of the things first before they go out in the field,” said Jerry Sheeman, Docent at First Division Museum at Cantigny.
Spanning the years of 1965 to 1970, visitors are able to hear radio recordings that were transmitted by the army and see items that were used in Vietnam, giving them more of a connection to the soldiers and the war.
The “Five Years in the Jungle” exhibit will remain open to the public until November 1.
