Fire Department Lieutenant Amanda “Amy” Scheller has supported the Naperville community for the past 13 years, and now it’s their turn to support her.
The Exchange Club of Naperville recently recognized Scheller as Firefighter of the Year.
“It’s really neat to know the community stands beside you,” said Lt. Scheller.
“Sometimes we run into really difficult calls and difficult situations, but we know that the community is there for you and we’re there for them.”
Last September, Scheller became the first female officer in the history of the Naperville Fire Department. She is also an emergency rescue diver.
Scheller is the tenth Firefighter of the Year Award recipient and will serve as a tasting judge at next year’s Ribfest. She will assist the Shanower family by placing a wreath during the city’s annual September Eleventh remembrance event.
