If you visit Naper Settlement before Christmas Eve, you can get a look into Christmas past.
A new exhibit, “Home for the Holidays: Christmas in the Fabulous 50s” explores mid-century modern traditions and 50s fads.
The exhibit highlights a time when the U.S. government began tracking Santa’s sleigh via radar, aluminum trees were the latest trend, and Napervillians began to adorn their homes with plastic decorations.
You can also check out other decorations, toys and books from the fabulous 50s.
“It’s all about Christmas and what Christmas was like in the 1950s including a real TV from the 1950s, so you have to come see that,” said Rena Tamayo-Calabrese, president and CEO of Naper Settlement.
The exhibit is open on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and during most Christkindlmarket hours through Christmas Eve.
Naperville News 17’s Beth Bria reports.
