Fermilab in nearby Batavia has made a major stride in their study of neutrinos with a recent installation.
This latest experiment will help scientists determine the role that neutrinos played in the evolution of the universe.
Neutrinos are the most abundant particles in the universe and rarely interact with other particles and are also very difficult to detect.
Fermilab’s accelerator complex produces the most intense neutrino beam in the world and will send it from Fermilab straight through the earth to northern Minnesota.
Once competed the first run of the experiment will last six years.
