Riding the Metra is now going to cost you more. Officials voted to raise the price last November and the changes recently went into effect.
One-way tickets from Naperville to Chicago will increase 75 cents and monthly passes will go up $35.
“The raise is going to be tough on my family,” said Mallory Petronzi, a Naperville resident. “My husband has a job, but he is the only one working right now.”
“I feel indifferent towards it,” said Steve Robinson, an Aurora resident. “They have to pay their bills somehow. They have a budget deficit, so they have to make up for it somehow.”
Metra says the increase is necessary to fill a nearly $54 million budget gap.
