More than 150 residents learned some “cool” new ways to be better stewards of the environment.
Naperville-based Conservation Foundation partnered with DuPage County to host “Making DuPage A Cool County: A Plan for Energy and Economic Stability.”
There speakers shared with area businesses do-it-yourself tips to reduce one’s carbon footprint, like cutting down driving time and boosting energy efficiencies.
In September 2012, DuPage became the first county in Illinois to join the Sierra Club’s “Cool Counties” initiative, an effort to reduce greenhouse emissions.
The event took place at Hotel Arista, which is LEED (Leadership in Engineering and Environmental Design) certified.
