Lines formed before polls opened on the first day of early voting throughout Illinois, including the Naperville Municipal Center, for the chance to fill out a ballot before Election Day.
Convenience is what drives many to come in and vote early.
“I want to avoid the rush on Election Day and I made up my mind a long time ago,” said Naperville’s Patrick Harrison. “[It’s] best to get it out of the way now and free up space on Election Day.
Each of the 12 early voting locations in DuPage County are equipped with election judges, electronic voting machines, and the ever popular “I Voted” stickers.
More than 5,000 people showed up to the polls on the first day. The election commission expects that number to grow to as many as 95,000 by November 3rd, the last day of early voting.
