Edward Hospital recently unveiled their new Tellabs Foundation Center for Clinical Simulation and Learning.
The state-of-the-art space features four simulation labs: two multipurpose patient simulation rooms, a trauma or intensive care unit room and a labor and delivery room.
Each have simulation mannequins that health care professionals can use to practice high-risk, low-occurrence simulation procedures.
“Thankfully we don’t see them very often, so we don’t get a chance to practice those skills in real life and we’d really rather practice them on somebody that we can talk about the outcome and improve our skills on,” said Amanda Hunt, Simulator and Training Manager at Edward Hospital.
Two control rooms also allow instructors to manipulate the response of the mannequins to provide for more learning.
The center was made possible, in part, by a grant from Tellabs Foundation to the Edward Foundation.
