With the extreme cold as of late, both local school districts have had days when they cancelled class, leaving some families scrambling to find a sitter.
Luckily the Y Sports Complex in Naperville has a solution. The School Days Out Program invites children from kindergarten through 5th grade to spend their day off with the Y for hours of games and activities.
“Parents still need to go to work and need to know that their child is in a safe environment, and so they like the convenience of it and knowing that they know our staff, they know the Y, it’s what we do, youth development is our focus. We really work hard to make sure kids have a fun time,” said Erika Wood, Executive Director of the Safe and Sound Program.
The program is open from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and runs $40 a day. As space is limited, parents are encouraged to sign up in advance when they can.
