The 95th Street Library stepped back in time for kids to learn some fun facts about dinosaurs.

Dinosaurs roamed the earth some 230 million years ago, ruling the land for over 160 million years.

Those were just some of the tidbits local kids were able to learn from Paleo-Joe, who was on hand to bring the past to the present.

Joe has been digging up fossils since he was ten and currently works for the Burpee Museum, in Rockford Illinois. He happily shared his dino-facts with the excited crowd.

“I want them to know they can do anything they want to do. Any kind of science is important, they may not want to be a paleontologist but there’s always something new to learn. I’m just trying to spark that curiosity, that interest in nature around them so they can learn more about what’s out there in nature,” said Joseph Kchodl, Paleontologist “Paleo-Joe”.

He definitely generated their interest by showing them models of teeth and old fossils, and explaining why it’s important to learn about history.

Paleo-Joe ended the night by signing books and answering any further questions.

Joe also was there to promote “Dino-vember,” a time when parents in more than 45 countries convince children that their plastic dinosaurs come to life while they sleep, by placing them in different scenarios to be found when they wake.
