North Central College has signed on to a new challenge showing their ongoing commitment to sustainability.
They have joined the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Workplace Charging Challenge, which pledges to make it convenient for students, faculty and visitors to maintain a sustainable lifestyle through on-campus vehicle charging stations.
“We want to encourage the use of electric vehicles for all those reasons why it’s good to switch from a gas vehicle to an electric vehicle. Improving air quality, reducing the use of dirty, non renewable resource and all that,” said Brittany Graham, Sustainability Coordinator for North Central College.
There are two charging stations on campus which are free for use by students, faculty, staff and visitors who obtain a charge point card from the college. As the demand for the charging stations grow, the college will match those needs.
North Central is one of about 150 businesses and institutions taking part in the DOE’s workplace charging challenge.
