Here’s a look at North Central College’s first mobile app, which optimizes their website and social media presence by giving users immediate access to academic, athletic, and fine art news.
With the swipe of a finger, students can access a Google map of the campus, showing the location and hours of each building.
It’s a design that the students had a voice in themselves.
“When we were developing this app, we actually had round table discussions with students, we invited students to come in, we had pizza and pop we bounced ideas off them and we got a sense of what they were looking for,” said Christopher Jones, the Director of Web Communications at the College. “It’s very clear that mobile is very important to them and so we want to make sure we provide that experience for them also.”
Some of those ideas were turned into useful tools including menu updates for the dining halls and real time availability of the computers in all the labs on campus.
The North Central app is available on their website at northcentralcollege.edu, or through the Google Play and Apple store, that includes the iPhone 6 and 6-plus, which was released September 19.
Apple fans camped out at the Naperville store to get their hands on one of the new devices.
Some key design changes in the iPhone 6 include a curved, thinner frame, bigger storage options, larger screen, and an extra hour of battery life.
Apple is expecting to sell about 9 million phones in the first weekend.
