District 204’s May Watts Elementary School was selected as a 2015 National Blue Ribbon School by the U.S. Department of Education.
“Our parents in general are really supportive of our school, the teachers are fantastic and of course the students who are wonderful too, and it really did take all of us being able to work together as a school community, that’s really what the Blue Ribbon’s all about,” said Brian LeCrone, Principal of May Watts.
To commemorate this award, May Watts held an all-school assembly with special guests including Mayor Steve Chirico and Mayor Emeritus A. George Pradel.
May Watts was chosen in the exemplary high performing schools category, which only selects schools from among the state’s highest scoring.
They received the honor based on their student diversity and collaboration.
