District 203 met for its first Future Focus event this year to identify key topics to work on for the direction of the District.
Staff and administrators welcomed community members to discuss how technology plays an important role in curriculum.
“In a digital environment learning can and does extend beyond the classrooms in a way that it cannot in a paper environment. In this environment, our students have greater opportunities to create, consume, to share content and researches, all of which can advance their critical thinking and performance,” said Chief Academic Officer, Jennifer Hester.
Other topics discussed were the District’s Digital Learning Initiative (DLI), which will be testing three major technology ecosystems: Apple, Google and Microsoft. Speakers also highlighted the Expanded Learning Opportunities (eLo) consortium with Indian Prairie District 204 and Wheaton-Warrenville District 200, a series of online courses, which will expand to include five more this summer.
The session included community engagement through an online chat and small group work which was shared at the end of the program.
District 203 also appointed Stephanie Posey as Principal of Naperville North High School at their latest Board of Education meeting.
Posey currently serves as Principal of Belleville East High School and is a 23 year education veteran with 10 years of administrative experience.
She will be replacing Kevin Pobst who is retiring at the end of the school year and is set to begin her role at Naperville North on the first of July.
