This was the third tentative agreement and passed with 69% of teacher support.
The contract includes a 3.9% pay increase for the 2015-2016 school year, a 2.55% increase for 2016-2017 and a 2.46% raise for the 2017-2018 school year.
“The increases include base salary, step increases and longevity stipends for each year. Additionally, the contract includes stipend movement for extra curricular sponsors and coaches, for the first time in several years,” said Doug Eccarius, Assistant Superintendent for Indian Prairie School District 204.
The contract also addresses bereavement days and parent-teacher conferences, but no longer includes health care benefits for teachers once they retire. However, it does contain a plan for a joint committee to focus on class size concerns.
“This is an agreement that’s responsible and fair, as Indian Prairie School District always strives to be, and I think the whole community should be satisfied with this agreement,” said board member Mark Rising.
The contract can be terminated after two years in the event that the district faces financial hardship due to state legislation.
