Installation of the partial air conditioning in the district’s 19 elementary schools is underway, and will continue during spring break.
District officials are hopeful the $2.7 million project will be finished when the 2015 – 2016 school year starts.
“We have started instillation in 14 of the elementary schools and are hopeful to finish the rest mid-August. We are confident to have them done by the upcoming school year,” said the District’s Building Official, Todd DePaul.
Other building updates discussed include improving gym lighting in middle school gyms, and pulverizing the old Waubonsie Valley parking lot.
The board plans to continue to look for grants to supplement funding for facility updates. The estimated cost for next year’s improvements is $2.3 million.
