Former NBA player, Chris Herren stopped by Naperville Central High School to talk about his battle with drug addiction and inspire students to make good decisions in their lives.
Herren battled with addiction through his time as both a college and professional athlete. And after getting sober in 2008 he started The Herren Project.
The not for profit is focused on providing assistance toward a sober lifestyle through educational programming and increased awareness.
Herren shared his favorite part of speaking to students.
“I have been fortunate as a public speaker to speak to do Ted Talks, speak in prisons, speak to professional sports teams, but I found my passion and purpose in speaking to students because that’s where I can make a difference,” said Herren.
Chris Herren was brought to the school on behalf of three sixty youth services and the efforts of Central students.
