DuPage Medical Group is hoping to get women proactive in their health with the opening of a new clinic. The Naperville Breast Center is a fully equipped wellness office with the most up-to-date diagnostic technologies, including rooms for mammograms, biopsies, as well as ultrasounds.
The advanced digital screenings that are offered now have higher resolutions that make it easier to identify potential malignant cancerous cells. Doctors say one in eight women will develop breast cancer over the course of her life and with the technology provided at the center, women are able to become more aware of cancer at earlier stages.
“It’s an x-ray but it’s digitized and it can be picked up on a computer so we don’t have films.” Says Dr. Anne Zimmermann, Director of Naperville Breast Center. “The images are faster to take, much less radiation.”
Doctors also say about 85% of breast cancers occur in women who have no family history of the disease. With regular health screenings and early detections women can lower their chances of fatalities. The DuPage Medical Group hopes that the convenience of the location on Ogden Avenue and Rickert Drive will make it easier for women in the area to have annual check-ups.
