DuPage Environmental Summit

Recently the Conservation Foundation held their annual DuPage Environmental Summit.

This year’s event titled “Landscaping for a Healthier Life” focused on the importance of trees and how the public can take steps to help them flourish.

“A lot of people want to do something to help the entire country, like global warming, but if you take the initiative yourself, and that’s what this program is about, if you take the initiative yourself to take action, it benefits everyone else,” said Jan Roehll, Program Director for DuPage County.

In collaboration with many environmental stakeholders in the area, groups explained different ways to increase the number of trees, health of trees, and how that can make a difference in our everyday life.

“It can provide a wonderful reduction in greenhouse gases, it helps water quality with the root system, it increases oxygen, the air is cleaner and more breathable,” said Dan Cronin, Chairman of the DuPage County Board.

This was the 15th year of the DuPage Environmental Summit.
