DuPage County landowners will be paying higher taxes on land that’s worth less than it used to be.
County officials announced that property owners across DuPage are going to pay on average 3.96 percent more on their tax bills that will be due in equal installments in June and September.
Municipalities, school districts, townships, and other local governmental entities make requests for tax dollars through their annual levies.
School districts take 73.32 percent of the tax bill in DuPage.
Land values have been declining since the recession in 2009, but this year’s decrease is the smallest the county has seen in recent years, which might be a sign of recovery.
