The voters have spoken about the way we elect City Council. Out of about 14,000 votes, 66.9% said they want to keep the at large electoral system. The decision will reverse the 2010 referendum changing to district representation.
A group of residents known as Yes at Large spearheaded the most recent referendum, and it wasn’t without a fight.
Naperville resident Paul Sjordal took a case all the way to the Illinois Appellate Court to try and kick the question off the ballot.
All eight council seats will be up for re-election in 2015, with the top four serving four-year terms and the bottom four two.
