The board discussed a yearlong case study in Common Core practices.
As part of the study, a teacher from an elementary school, middle school and high school within the district were selected to adopt Common Core curriculum.
Participants composed lesson plans and taught classes, then were video taped during class time for peer review and to offer better understanding of Common Core for fellow instructors.
Each teacher shared their personal journey through the process, and overall felt it was a good experience.
“They really rose to the occasion and it was amazing to see how much they really learned from interacting and learning from each other,” said Fischer Middle School Teacher, Megan Hall.
The board will now share the findings with the rest of the district to help better understand Common Core standards.
