The District 204 School Board recently met to appoint new employees, and consider adjusting the grading system for high schoolers.
The board discussed a small change in the district’s grading scale, making it slightly easier for students to earn an “A”.
Currently, the grading scale scores a 91 percent and up an “A”, however, under the new rule, that limit is changed to 90 percent.
“We still expect the same practices, and standard of our students but this small change will keep us in line with the other surrounding districts,” said Assistant Superintendent, Linda Rakestraw.
Also at the meeting, Superintendent Doctor Kathy Birkett, was able to do one of her favorite things at the board meeting, welcome two new administrators to the district.
Doug Eccarius will take over as Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources once Karen Sullivan becomes the new superintendent.
Doctor Louis Lee Jr. has been appointed as the new assistant superintendent of teaching and learning.
Both have previous ties to the district. Eccarius started his teaching career at Gregory Middle School and Lee was previously a principal at Granger Middle School.
