The school board passed a resolution to sell 25 acres of real estate. The land was to be used as the site of a middle school or the district’s third high school, Metea Valley, before the final plans shifted to a new location.
“Those plans for schools on that property are no longer in the district’s future and we have the opportunity to sell that property because we’re not using it,” said Jay Strang, Chief School Business Official of District 204.
The property being sold is located east of Commons Drive at the Thatcher Drive intersection, and will be sold by a sealed bid with a minimum price of $6.1 million on January 5 of the new year.
Also at the meeting, the district approved both the new tax levy and the amended budget.
The tax levy includes a small increase – mostly covered by new property, while the budget was amended to cover the completion of phase three of the district’s plan to complete the installation air conditioning of its elementary schools.
With the completion of phase three, 56 percent of the district’s elementary school classrooms will be air-conditioned.
