Next year’s budget for Naperville’s Indian Prairie School District 204 could be a million dollars less.
At their latest board meeting, members discussed how to reduce their budget for fiscal year 2014.
Proposed cost-cutting measures include eliminating a middle school football team and summer driver’s education courses, as well as encouraging staff retirements. The plan could also require more students to pay registration fees.
The changes would help make up for budget shortfalls caused by projected cuts in general state aid and the effects of the sequester, saving the district about a million dollars.
The final budget for fiscal year 2014 will be decided on in September.
