Students in District 203 went back to school on August 17, but for some, things were a little different.
At Washington Junior High, science classrooms were updated, the library is becoming the learning commons and fifth graders from Naper Elementary now call the school their home, due to overcrowding at Naper.
But administrators say all of these changes were welcomed by the students.
“I think just the kids are excited to be back from the summer, it’s especially exciting given all the changes here at Washington. So you could just see that the kids couldn’t wait to get in the school, couldn’t wait to get in the classrooms, see the new space. There’s just an energy in the building that we’ve missed for three months,” said Principal of Washington Junior High, Jon Vogel.
Another change, all District 203 junior highers will now use a Chromebook as part of the Digital Learning Initiative.fir
