Residents statewide may no longer place electronics on the curb along with their other garbage. As of January first, Illinois now requires all electronics to be disregarded at recycling drop-off centers.
The City of Naperville offers a drop off location at the Public Works Service Center on Fort Hill Drive on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8am-4pm.
Representatives at Public Works say the center has been increasingly busy due to the holidays and the new law.
“ It’s Educating people. That they shouldn’t put it in the landfill, that is not the proper way to dispose of it, “says Christine Schwartzhoff, Public works service center operations team leader, “The more people know, they want to do the right thing.”
Greg Bolger dropped off a truckload of electronics and stated, “I’m glad this is not just going into a landfill.”
