Ten local restaurants recently teamed up with the People’s Resource Center to dine away hunger. Local businesses including Bracconi’s, Butterfield’s, Meson Sabika, and Johnny Rockets donated 10% of their sales to the center’s food pantry.
The Dine Away Hunger event has raised more than $25,000 since it began in 2004.
“We are seeing over three thousand families a month coming through the food pantry and the People’s Resource Center.” said Jennifer Barger Williamson, the Director of Development for the People’s Resource Center. “So we need to keep the shelves stocked and that’s what Dine Away Hunger Program does. It provides nutrient dense food for our pantries.”
Officials from the center say every $25 raised is enough to feed the average family for a week.
