Loaves & Fishes Community Pantry is continuing to shine the spotlight on hunger.
Residents joined together for the sixth annual Day Without Hunger to raise awareness of hunger affecting families and individuals throughout the area.
The ten-hour event kicked off with a flag raising and a free community-wide picnic, fighting for “Freedom from Hunger.”
“With all of us coming together and looking at hunger as an issue that you know that we can solve, we’re doing it here at Loaves & Fishes and getting more people to be a part of our cause,” said Charles McLimans, Executive Director of Loaves & Fishes.
Loaves & Fishes has also been conducting a Day Without Hunger food drive all year, collecting 379,034 pounds since January.
All the food gathered will help feed families in DuPage County.
Other activities throughout the day included exhibits, fun for kids, and concerts.
