The Naperville Garden Club once again used their talents to bring holiday cheer to others.
For the past 53 years the club has held their popular Cup of Cheer event, which includes a holiday market and tea at North Central College and a house walk.
For this event, four Naperville homeowners volunteer to have their houses decorated for the holidays by members of the club to then be shown off to more than 1,500 visitors.
“It’s the beginning of the Christmas season,” said Cup of Cheer’s Co-Chair, Diane Greenawalt. “We kick it off. We get great ideas from the designers who do the homes and then our ticketholders can take those ideas back to their own homes and can duplicate some of the things they see.”
This year the club partnered with downtown Naperville’s Little Luxuries to help design the décor for one home.
“Decorating for Christmas doesn’t have to be difficult,” said Nicole Menard, a designer at Little Luxuries. “You can just add little pieces of Christmas as far as ornaments and greens and berries to your everyday existing accessories to make them look like Christmas.”
The money raised from Cup of Cheer goes toward funding scholarships for area students studying horticulture.
