CSI: New York Star Visits North Central College

Another local college celebrated King’s birth.

A popular TV star stopped by North Central College as part of their weeklong celebration. Actor Hill Harper joined them to give the annual keynote address.

Harper not only plays Dr. Sheldon Hawkes on CSI: New York, but is also the author of four best sellers and the founder of Manifest Your Destiny Foundation, which helps underserved youth.

Students listened as Harper talked to a crowded Wentz Concert Hall about how he believes we should live our lives like an architect.

“Most architects want to build a structure that lasts beyond them. They want to build a building that when they’re long gone, people say, you know that was built by X architect,” said Harper. “And we can think of our lives that same way. What about building a life that lasts beyond us? What kind of impact are you going to have while you’re here and what kind of legacy do you want live, you know, leave?”

After his address, Harper jetted back to D.C. to spend the evening at the inaugural ball with his good friend, President Barack Obama.
