A Naperville tradition turned 30 this year, and a little rain couldn’t stop walkers from lacing up for a good cause. The annual Crop Walk kicked off with a rally inside Grace United Methodist Church.
Seventeen groups raised money to end hunger one step at a time. Walkers could choose from a 10K, 5K, or 1K route.
Twenty-five percent of the money raised will go to local food pantries, Fishes and Loaves and The Northern Illinois Food Bank. The rest of the money raised will go to fight hunger worldwide.
Preliminary reports show that 610 walkers raised $62,000 dollars. Over thirty years the Crop Walk has raised over one million dollars for charity.
