The Geneva man charged in the quarry lake crash that killed two people is out on bond.
Michael Szot, 21, is charged with four counts of aggravated DUI causing the death of another and two counts of reckless homicide, posted ten percent of his $250,000 bail.
Szot was allegedly behind the wheel of the car that crashed into the Naperville lake on July 19, leading to the deaths of passengers Sajaad Syed of Naperville and Mihirtej Boddupalli of Lisle.
At the time of the crash, Szot’s blood alcohol level was .142, almost double the legal limit of .08. He also told police he had been smoking marijuana earlier in the day.
Szot’s arraignment will be in Wheaton on August 11. If convicted, he could face up to 28 years in prison.
