Hundreds of Illinois law enforcement officers staked out Dunkin’ Donuts’ rooftops to benefit Illinois Special Olympics.
This year’s “Cop On A Rooftop” included 151 rooftops, a record high, and marked the 11th year in a row that the event has taken place.
The event heightens awareness and raises money for Special Olympics.
KISS FM’s Brotha Fred and Angi Taylor showed up to broadcast live from the Dunkin’ Donuts at Ogden and N. Columbia St.
Last year the fundraiser raised over $240,000 and this year, the foundation hopes to set a new record.
“Every dollar goes to Special Olympics Illinois. All the Sheriffs, Deputies, all of our explorers, everybody that’s out here, all of our volunteers, everybody’s volunteering their time. We’re all off duty and we all volunteer our time to support this program,” commented Sgt. Randy Groh of the DuPage Co. Sheriff’s Office.
On top of housing the guests on their roof for the morning, Dunkin’ Donuts also donated $15,000 to the fund.
The summer games for Illinois Special Olympics are scheduled for June 14 through 16.
