The Naperville Park District Police partnered with Dunkin Donuts to raise money for Special Olympics Illinois, which provides year-round sports training and competitions for children and adults with special needs.
From 5 a.m. to 2 p.m., officers were stationed at two locations in Naperville, talking to the community about their cause.
“I’ve been doing this for 30 years because this is a passion of mine. As much as I can do for the Special Olympics, I’m going to keep doing it,” said Fred Cadena, a Patrolman with the Naperville Park District Police.
Officers also sold t-shirts, mugs and hats with all proceeds benefiting Special Olympics Illinois.
