Jefferson Junior High is making goals possible for kids in Kenya.
Team fire, a group of seventh grade students and staff, are asking for donations of old soccer equipment. The gear will be sent to Kenya to be used by less fortunate children.
Cleats, balls, socks, shin-guards, shorts and tops can all be donated. Students are accepting monetary donations and are selling bracelets and a book authored by team fire to help pay for shipping costs.
Teachers feel the service project is a great addition to their students’ recent studies on Africa.
John Bilardello, Athletic Director at Jefferson, is excited about the attention this has received.
“We were able to collect over 180 pairs of cleats, 80 soccer balls, shin guards, we’ve got some goalie gloves. The response has been overwhelming. It’s been great.
