The city’s main website is still down after being hacked more than two weeks ago and officials are in the process of recovering their electronic communication.
At their latest meeting, city council members approved an immediate bid for Canadian computer consulting firm, N-dimension. The $673,000 bid includes hardware for firewalls, hacker detection software, and consulting fees for network intrusion analysis and network restoration. City Manager Doug Krieger says the process will result in a re-designed website.
So far the internal e-mail system is back up for city employees while the external system is still down. The FBI is in the process of investigating the website’s October 2nd security breach. In the mean time, residents can send messages to a temporary e-mail address…email@example.com.
