As a result of last April’s flooding, Illinois Farmers Insurance Company has filed a formal complaint against will county and 12 municipalities, including Naperville.
The suit claims the defendants didn’t properly handle the April flood, including “failing to safely operate retention basins, detention basins, tributary enclosed sewers and tributary open sewers and drains, for the purpose of safely conveying storm water,” said the lawsuit.
A similar suit has already been filed in Cook County. Farmers Insurance gave us the following statement on that action:
“Farmers has taken what we believe is necessary action to recover payments made on behalf of our customers, for damages caused by what we believe was a completely preventable issue, as well as to prevent it from happening again.”
Naperville News 17 has confirmed, at the time of this taping, the Will County complaint is being placed for “proper service” with the Sheriff and the City of Naperville has not yet been served.
